Why convert to digital?
Why do I need to do this you may ask? Well, there are 3 main reasons that I believe are important to consider when it comes preserving your memories...

Safety - Most photos and videos are one of a kind, unique and precious. When I say safety, I mean keeping those important videos, photo albums or even vinyls safe from being lost forever due to damage, theft, or something as horrible as floods or fires.

Aging hardware - Aging hardware is more of an observation for VHS and Audio tape owners. As VCRs and tape decks are getting harder and harder to get hold off, you are resorted to buying from Facebook marketplace. Like anything, VCRs and camcorders have a life span and getting those repaired becomes harder and more expensive.

Sharing - Sharing these memories with people is great if those people can gather together in a room and watch the VHS or look through the photo album. But what happens when those family members or friends live overseas or cannot travel anymore (like during the pandemic).
Converting to digital solves these scenarios!!!
Transferring photos and tapes to a digital format allows you to keep those photo albums and videos at home on display but reassures you that if anything was to happen you have them backed up on a couple of USB hard drives or flash drives, and maybe even to cloud storage as reserve. You won't have to worry about a hard drive or USB will become obsolete anytime soon or having to fork out for an adaptor as your new TV has no connection for a VCR, and then hoping that the adaptor works. Having a digital collection of your memories helps to share these with the family and friends that cannot be with you right then and there. Creating a family chat on Facebook or WhatsApp allows you to upload your digital photos and videos and share them with the family or play them at the next family gathering on the big TV or projector.
